Aditya Hrudayam Stotram – The Sacred Prayer Of Sun God

In the vedic culture the Gods of nature are worshipped, like Vasus (deity of elements: agni, jal, vayu and more), rudra, ashwini kumar and Aditya. Aditya means the son of devi aditi and this stotra pleases the Lord’s heart and hence called Aditya Hrudayam Stotram. In hinduism or any other culture sages always worship the Lord Sun as the presiding deity. In one of the oldest text, vedas (Rigveda) the mantras and stotras are there to worship the Surya Dev.

Aditya Hrudayam Stotram is the sacred praise to the essence of Surya Dev (Sun God). The stotra includes 31 verses. During the time of Rama and Ravana war, Rama was thinking the solution to kill ravana as the war was going non ending. Rishi Agastya came forward to help Him with the glory of Aditya Hridaya Stotra. The stotra is the glory of Sun God and also describes the fruit. It’s verses give the complete introduction, the praise and the goals one can achieve by praising Surya Dev. The glory is defined so beautifully that it pleases the heart of Sun God. Aditya Hrudayam Stotram is given in Valmiki Ramayana, the sacred scripture of describing the life of Lord Rama.
